We are pleased to announce that the SYMBIOREM Project will host a hybrid stakeholder-science collaboration event designed to demonstrate how researchers and stakeholders can work hand-in-hand to tackle pressing environmental challenges. The event will feature a two-site showcase, combining on-site demonstrations with interactive discussions to illustrate practical, real-world applications of collaborative research.
The Utö Island demo site in the Baltic Sea will be a focal point, with emphasis on phosphorus and metal recovery from marine sediments. The session will also share insights into the collaborative stakeholder engagement process that underpins successful field projects, led by KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and the Initiativ Utö Foundation. Attendees will see how multi-stakeholder collaboration can unlock sustainable resource recovery while protecting marine ecosystems.
The Gallions Lake Pilot Site (UK) will highlight co-creation for effective catchment management and floating island installation, presented by Thames21 and Peabody. This segment will showcase how co-design and community engagement inform the deployment of nature-based solutions to improve water quality, flood resilience, and urban shoreline quality.
