  • Inspiring the Next Generation: ICCRAM Celebrates Women & Girls in Science Day

On 11 February, we proudly celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a global initiative that highlights the vital role of women and girls in scientific research and innovation.

To mark the occasion, Universidad de BurgosICCRAM (International Research Center in Critical Raw Materials for Advanced Industrial Technologies) organised and delivered an engaging hands-on workshop for children entitled: “Danger! The Soil Is Disappearing”

Through interactive and educational activities, children discovered the importance of soil conservation and sustainable land management. The workshop encouraged participants to think critically about environmental challenges, while fostering logical reasoning, teamwork, and environmental awareness in a fun and accessible way. By combining science with creativity, the initiative aimed to inspire curiosity and promote early interest in research and innovation, especially among young girls.

This outreach activity was carried out in connection with several EU-funded projects in which ICCRAM actively participates, including: Tribiome | BIOSYSMO | pHYBi | PHY2SHINE | ECHO | BIOREM

By linking scientific outreach activities to ongoing European research initiatives, ICCRAM continues to strengthen the connection between cutting-edge science and society, promoting sustainability and inclusive participation in STEM fields.

A special thank you goes to the dedicated UBU researchers who made this inspiring event possible:

  • María Medrano García
  • Patricia De La Fuente Gamero
  • Andrea Martín Pablo
