ICCRAM – University of Burgos proudly took part in this year’s European Researchers’ Night, a large-scale public event that brings science closer to society through interactive activities, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences. The event was hosted at La Estación de la Ciencia y la Tecnología and attracted families, students, and young science enthusiasts from across the region.
As part of the programme, ICCRAM organised two engaging workshops for children, delivered in collaboration with UBUinvestiga. These activities were designed to inspire curiosity and introduce young participants to key environmental and scientific concepts in a fun and accessible way.
One of the workshops focused on soil health, guiding children through questions such as What is soil? How is it formed? Why is it essential for life and the environment? Through simple experiments and interactive explanations, participants learned about topics directly connected to several ongoing research initiatives, including pHYBi Project, BIOSYSMO, Phy2Shine, BIOREM Project, and TRIBIOME. These projects collectively explore innovative solutions for soil quality, bioremediation, microbiome-based technologies, and sustainable land management.
Events like the European Researchers’ Night play a vital role in strengthening the link between science and society, encouraging the next generation to explore research, environmental stewardship, and technological innovation.
